easyJet launches its first smartphone app
easyJet has launched its first smartphone app. The UK-based airline says its offering is the “fastest airline booking app available”, enabling passengers to book a flight on more than 580 routes in less than 30 seconds.
The free app, launched for both iPhones and Android smartphones, will enable passengers to search and book flights including both standard and flexi fares; add luggage, sports equipment and speedy boarding to their booking up to two hours before flying; change language/ currency to a choice of five European languages; check flight status by arrivals, departures and flight number for scheduled, actual and estimated flight times; manage their bookings to change flight bookings or add APIS information; change bookings or process refunds and transfers.
The airline also highlighted that users will have a personalised homescreen which recognises them, shows them a countdown clock to their next booked flight.
The airline plans to add more features and functions to the app over the next few months.
Fastest
Referring to the app, Peter Duffy, marketing director for easyJet, said, “Not only is it completely free, it also offers our customers the speediest and simplest way to book.”
According to the airline, logged in customers select their destination and dates of travel and then are only required to enter their security number in order to confirm and process the booking.
“easyJet tested its new app against other major airline apps available today based on a logged in customer. easyJet’s app required far fewer actions (i.e. selecting airport selection, dates selection, entering CVV etc) and the booking was made twice as quickly as the leading competitor. Logged in customers are those who have registered their details with easyJet previously,” stated the airline, which worked with Mobile Travel Technologies for this initiative.
