Offering travellers attractive airfares to visit Facebook friends
European low cost airline Germanwings has unveiled its social airfare booking application that helps users find the lowest Germanwings airfares to visit their Facebook friends around Europe.
The application sorts Germanwings airfare results by price, geographical distance or Facebook friends, making it easy for users to enhance their online connections and create new, real life experiences, stated the airline, which offers low-cost airfares from five locations in Germany to 75 destinations around Europe.
The FriendFlights app has been developed by Portland, Oregon’s Sparkloft Media, a social media marketing and communications firm.
“Many Europeans are already using social media to stay connected with their friends and family around the continent, so this really makes sense as the next step in utilizing social platforms to stay in touch,” said Martin Stoll, founder and CEO of Sparkloft Media.
Sparkloft Media came up with its FriendFareFinder social airfare booking application in September last year. It combines the social data of Facebook users with relevant airfare information. According to the company, the application generates results from a variety of airlines to locations around the world. It also showed the lowest airfares to featured destinations, for users who are not looking to visit specific Facebook friends.
