CheapTickets.nl has worked with Rotterdam-based company the Sound of Data for its iPhone application.
CheapTickets.nl will soon offer the application for other platforms as well.
Lieke Fransen, brand manager at CheapTickets.nl, said, “Smart phones and other mobile devices are becoming more and more popular and they provide an important extra sales channel for an online agent such as CheapTickets.nl. This year, the iPhone application My CheapTickets is being upgraded to a real-time booking application, so the traveller can make flight reservations and pay through their mobile device.”
CheapTickets.nl offers its travellers the possibility to be proactively informed about changes and the status of a booked flight, said Jeroen van Velzen, CEO of the Sound of Data.
The application offers relevant information, ranging from an online check-in reminder to the number of the baggage belt where a passenger’s luggage is waiting.
“We are seeing a strong, increasing demand for these kind of mobile services in both the Netherlands and Western Europe,” added van Velzen.
CheapTickets.nl was founded in 2001 by Beins Travel Group and commenced on the Dutch market with CheapTickets.nl. With an annual turnover of €170 million in 2009, the company is the Dutch market leader in online airline tickets sales, accommodation, rental cars and package deals.
