Online travel company Orbitz.com has launched its Hotels by Orbitz App for iPhone. The company highlighted that this hotel-only booking app “allows customers to book a hotel in just three taps”.

The app lets users find hotels nearby using iPhone’s GPS capabilities – particularly convenient for same day bookings – or search by city, address, zip code or landmark.

Chris Orton, president of Orbitz.com, said, “Hotels by Orbitz App for iPhone allows customers to book a hotel in just three taps.”

“Since we know that 65 percent of hotel reservations made through Orbitz mobile channels are for same-day stays, we designed the app so that when it is launched, it immediately shows available rates for same-day check-in at nearby hotels,” said Orton.

As an additional benefit, the Hotels by Orbitz App for iPhone also gives customers access to Orbitz Mobile Steals, which offer exclusive mobile-only rates offering savings of up to 50 percent on hotels, added Orton.

One can also filter and sort hotels by price, star rating, review score, distance, neighbourhood and more.

The app allows users to compare hotels on an interactive map and use intuitive swipe gestures to view photos, room descriptions and verified customer reviews. Users can also add reservations to their calendar and share itineraries via email with friends, family, or colleagues.

The company’s mobile products and services have been nominated in three categories in EyeforTravel’s Mobile Innovation in Travel Awards.
